FOLLY OR FUNCTION?
These models were made from boxboard when I was in my first year of design and had to learn about spatial design. Our design brief was to develop a building that would occupy an urban space. My chosen space was the large intersection outside Sydney's QVB building and my goal was to design a building that would function as a lookout that would stand above the intersection yet allow pedestrians to cross over without interfering traffic. Although my tutor at the time questioned the function of my design and called it a folly, I believe design is subjective and concluded she simply did not share my vision. My final design was inspired by the domes found in the QVB building however is not shown here as I no longer own the model.
