MOTTAINAI PLATES
This project features three ceramic plates with screen printed patterns. The design is inspired by Mottainai, a Japanese term which refers to a feeling of guilt and regret for wasting something useful such as food or time. The patterns are derived from the sound waves of animals being slaughtered for meat farming. The purpose is to make the audience feel a sense of guilt for wasting food when they realise the meaning behind the design.
