WINTER WONDERLAND
“Getting lost is the first step to finding yourself. ”
Woodland Wonderland is a series of rings that explores the concept of self growth using nature as a metaphor. It features three rings with each symbolising a different stage. There is no beginning or end as each ring is part of an endless cycle of personal growth where we experience adverse conditions but ultimately bloom again. The designs are inspired by artist and art director, Samuel Burgess-Johnson’s style whose visuals are often characterised by floral blooms and pastel shades .
The first ring, Winter is represented through a branch-like design and features a thin brass wire that wraps around the finger with intertwining ends. This ring symbolises the winter stage of life where in order to grow we must shed our old self. The second ring, Acceptance represents the start of something new and features a brass wrap-around design with budding leaves. The final ring, Renewal is made from silver and features an organically shaped flower ring. Furthermore, the rings are slightly textured, uneven and hand moulded to add an organic element to the series.
